about Alexis

I study tiny humans and their development. I am interested in how infants and children leverage others’ emotions to reason about the social and physical world.

I am currently a fourth year Ph.D. Candidate at the University of California, San Diego working with Dr. Lindsey Powell in the Social Cognition and Learning (SoCal) Lab. I am funded by the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine’s Ford Predoctoral Fellowship and the UC San Diego Cota-Robles Fellowship.

I am passionate about training undergraduate students to understand and participate in research, and I strive to make these opportunities available to students from underrepresented backgrounds in STEM.

During my undergraduate program at Boston University, I worked with Dr. Melissa Kibbe in the Developing Minds Lab. After undergrad, I worked as the lab manager for the Johns Hopkins University Lab for Child Development directed by Drs. Lisa Feigenson and Justin Halberda.
